Phobjikha Valley

The valley of Phobjikha is widely popular among visitors for its birding experience and being home to endangered bird species. The key highlight of the valley is the black-necked crane that is only found in this valley and is celebrated in the form of a festival. Apart from this, the valley is home to more than 289 species of bird along with Himalayan bird species. Some of the common bird species of this region are Gray-sided Laughingthrush, Gray Nightjar, Blue-throated Barbet, Tibetan Serin, Solitary Snipe, Black-throated Thrush, Blyth's Swift, Black-necked Crane, Ashy Drongo, White-winged Grosbeak, Green-winged Teal, Little Bunting and many more.

Jigme Dorji National Park

Considered the second largest national park of Bhutan, Jigme Dorji National Park is well known for its biodiversity and numerous adventure opportunities. Apart from natural beauty, the national park is also home to more than 260 bird species found in various parts of the region. Cheri Valley is a prominent area of the national park that is considered the best birding site. Some of the popular birds located in this include Speckled Wood-Pigeon, Chestnut-crowned Laughingthrush, Rock Pigeon, Oriental Turtle-Dove, Long-tailed Minivet, Green-backed Tit, Lemon-rumped Warbler, Rufous Sibia, Snow Pigeon, House Crow and Oriental Magpie-Robin.

Royal Botanical Park

Placed in the central part of Thimphu, the Royal Botanical Park is home to the largest population of bird species with more than 300 varieties of birds sighted here. Having a close range to the Dochula Pass the botanical park is well known for its birding experience. Some of the popular bird species of this region are Russet Sparrow, White-throated Bulbul, Whiskered Yuhina, Speckled Wood-Pigeon, Hoary-throated Barwing, Striated Laughingthrush and many more. Trongsa

Situated in central Bhutan, the valley of Trongsa is well known for its birding experience attracting tourists all around the year. However, summer during the month of June is considered the best time to witness the various species of birds of Bhutan. The presence of bird species may vary from season and months some of the most popular bird species that can be sighted in this region are Wedge-tailed Green-Pigeon, Blue-winged Minla, Tibetan Serin, Brown Parrotbill, Black Drongo, Speckled Wood-Pigeon, Yellow-cheeked Tit, Black-throated Parrotbill, Blyth's Swift, Brownish-flanked Bush Warbler, Black-throated Tit and many other.

Gelephu

Adjoining the Royal Manas National Park of Bhutan, Gelephu is one of the most prominent names among bird lovers. Surrounded by lush green valleys, vastly spread paddy fields and cascading Manas River, the valley is a primary birding site. With being home to more than 362 species of native Himalayan birds, there are numerous locations made to witness the rich wildlife diversity of the Gelephu. Jigme Dorji National Park

Established in 1974, Jigme Dorji National Park is a haven for a diverse range of flora and fauna, making it a crucial sanctuary for endangered species. Out of many others, the park’s most treasured inhabitants is the red panda also known as the "fire fox". Spread across 4300 sq km of land the Jigme Dorji National Park is estimated to be home to around 442 red pandas within suitable habitats. The park is located on an isolated hill and therefore offers a pleasant atmosphere for these creatures.

Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary

Bhutan has been highly focused on preserving its environment and natural habitat and Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary is the best example of it. Situated in the Trashigang district of Bhutan the sanctuary is spread across 740 sq km of land and inhabits numerous wild animal and bird species. The region is also known for being home to Himalayan animal species such as Red Panda and Snow Leopards. The wildlife sanctuary has undergone many studies to determine the presence of red pandas within the region.

Gangtey Valley

Dagala Thousand Lakes Trek
